Keisha is a psychology teacher at Cal State DH with a doctorate in clinical psychology. She was very confident and knew how to tell a joke, a very interesting comparison to Ryan who had been the speaker for the first part of class. Ryan spoke this morning about role expectations, client preferences, personal limitations, ethical considerations, and clinical concerns.

Keisha spoke about cultural identity starting with an index card exercise where each of us wrote one sentence about ourselves and later had to guess which card was written by which person. She emphasized that we should allow people to tell you about themselves and that we should not cast judgements about what culture they belong to. And we broke up into groups of about four people each to go over individual answers to a cultural self-awareness exercise focussing on who we are, what we like or dislike about this cultural heritage, when we felt different, and how we felt a sense of power or lack of power in relation to other groups.
